Guaranteeing an authentic Japanese experience in the heart of Manila, UMU takes pride of their amazing food, aside from that it features award-winning Japanese designed cooking stations, private rooms, and alfresco dining. It was voted among the Top 4 Restaurants in the Luxury League during Hotel World in Las Vegas. All effects were modelled and tested up to the finest detail in accurate computer models. The lighting effects were executed as planned by the very talented team of lighting designers, architects and computer wizards of TELCS. This in turn saved the hotel and installation crew countless days and sped up project completion.

The revamping of the beautiful 1,000sqm Japanese restaurant required unobtrusive enhancements through lighting to create a sophisticated ambiance. It is a mix of symmetrical light-lines on the main wall that changes to even illumination in other areas.

The walls of the restaurant played as accent pieces to the entire place. One wall has impressive three-dimensional origami-like features, enhanced by perfectly placed light and shadow plays, while the veins of an onyx-cladded bar are enhanced through backlighting. A great wall in the main dining area was transformed into an art-piece with symmetrical pattern of light-lines. The bar counter had precise cut-off over it that gives perfect dining illumination without causing glare to the guests. All the extravagant luminaires used for the effects are environmentally friendly and energy efficient, making the restaurant one of the lowest in electric consumption in its class worldwide.
